Indications/Uses
Restore & maintain the vol of circulating blood in patients which have lost blood &/or body fluids, & use of a colloid is appropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage according to patient's size, severity of trauma or illness & on continuing fluid & protein losses. Administer by IV infusion.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if allergic type reactions occur. Hypervolaemia or haemodilution. Decompensated cardiac insufficiency, arterial HTN, oesophageal varices, pulmonary oedema, haemorrhagic diathesis, severe anaemia, renal & post-renal anuria. Ensure adequate hydration & monitor for circulatory overload & hyperhydration. Monitor electrolyte status & restore or maintain electrolyte balance. Pregnancy & lactation.
